(COLUMBUS, OHIO, 10/01/2026) -The Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today launched an urgent Action Alert calling on candidates across the state to publicly pledge not to accept funds, gifts, or sponsored travel from foreign government lobbying networks, including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

In a statement, CAIR-Ohio Government Affairs Team said: “Elected officials must remain strictly accountable to the people of Ohio, not to foreign lobby groups. Our tax dollars and leaders’ attention belong at home, addressing local priorities like healthcare, education, and infrastructure, not enabling genocide, apartheid, and human rights violations abroad.
“We urge every voter across Ohio to contact their candidates and demand a clear, public commitment to transparent, morally responsible leadership.”

CAIR-Ohio is calling on all constituents to complete the following steps:
  1. SIGN & SEND: Click the link to send a direct petition to local candidates: LINK
  2. PERSONALIZE: Adapt the message to highlight why community accountability matters to you.
