Meet Our Team

Amina Barhumi

Executive Director

Amina Barhumi is the Executive Director of CAIR-Ohio’s Columbus and Cincinnati offices, where she leads the organization and staff to serve the Ohio Muslim community. As a lifelong human rights and democracy activist, she joined CAIR-Ohio in 2020, first as the Outreach Director, and then stepped up to lead the organization during a challenging transition. Amina is deeply passionate about building capacity and power for Ohio Muslims. Through her work, she engages elected officials, media, local institutions, and the public about American Muslim issues. She strongly believes in investing in our future leaders through training and internship programs. Amina earned her degree in Business Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is currently an MPA Candidate at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at the University of Syracuse. Amina has called Columbus home for over 13 years, along with her husband and four children.

Lina Abbaoui, Esq.

Deputy & Legal Director

Lina Abbaoui is the Deputy and Legal Director at CAIR-Ohio, where she works closely with the executive director to set the strategic direction of the organization and leads our legal team in advocating for justice and defending the rights of Ohio Muslims. Lina earned her J.D. from Capital University Law School in 2015 and her B.S. in Biochemistry from The Ohio State University in 2011. With a background in intellectual property enforcement and employment compliance at global organizations such as A&F and ISK Americas, Lina brings a wealth of experience to his role. She is committed to using her skills to support the important work of CAIR-Ohio and is dedicated to helping create a more just and equitable society. Lina was born in Algiers, Algeria but has called Ohio home for over 20 years.

Victoria Hickcox

Outreach Director

Victoria Hickcox is the Outreach Director at CAIR-Ohio, where she leads the outreach and communications team and manages our efforts to engage with and mobilize the Muslim community. Victoria is originally from Phoenix, AZ and is an alumnus of Arizona State University, where she earned her B.A. in Global Health and M.Ed. in English. She was a 2017 Corps Member of Teach for America and is a member of Leadership for Educational Equity. Victoria has been an active member of her community and social movements since her teen years, with a strong commitment to social justice and a passion for grassroots organizing, civic engagement, and progressive policy change. She has lived in Cincinnati with her husband since 2020.

Laila Hussein

Operations Director

Laila Hussein is the Operations Director at CAIR-Ohio, where she oversees all aspects of the organization’s operations, including logistics, human resources, and financial management. She comes to CAIR-Ohio with a unique perspective and many years of business experience. As an entrepreneur, Laila worked inside diverse communities providing resources and building relationships. She has been involved in numerous charities and is excited to bring her nonprofit experience to benefit the Ohio Muslim community. Laila is particularly passionate about gender equality and mental health awareness.

Monuza Ashraf

Executive Administrator

Monuza Ashraf is the Executive Administrator at CAIR-Ohio, where she works with the executive team to execute special projects to serve the Ohio Muslim community. She has been working in operations at CAIR-Ohio since March 2017. She is originally from the UK where she earned her degree from Keele University in English Literature and Classics. She has worked with various organizations as a website producer including Virgin.net and The London Business School in the UK and currently for Noor Islamic Cultural Center. She lives in Columbus with her husband and children and enjoys baking in her free time.

Sarah Mazouz

Client Intake Specialist

Sarah Mazouz is the Client Intake Specialist at CAIR-Ohio, where she is responsible for managing the intake process for clients seeking assistance with issues related to discrimination, harassment, and intimidation. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 2018 with her Bachelor of Science in Social Work and worked as a Mental Health Specialist for youth before joining CAIR-Ohio in October 2020. Sarah enjoys giving back to the community and is a strong advocate for adequate mental health services. Sarah enjoys being outdoors, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Fadila Gitosuputro​

Creative Designer​

Fadila Gitosuputro is the Creative Designer at CAIR-Ohio, where she is responsible for managing our social media presence, developing marketing materials, and creating designs to effectively communicate our mission and advocacy work to the public. She has been with the organization since August 2019. Fadila graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in Communication Technology and a minor in Design Thinking, and a concentration in Human-Computer Interaction. At OSU, Fadila worked for the theatre department as their Publicity and Promotions Assistant where she designed graphics for The Lab Series. She is also the Creatives Team Lead for IMSA (Indonesian Muslim Society in America) Youth, leading a group of youth in creating social media graphics and organizing events/lectures for Indonesian youth across America.

Mariyam Muhammad

Communications Coordinator

Mariyam Muhammad is the Communications Coordinator at CAIR-Ohio, where she supports the development and implementation of communications strategies that promote the organization’s mission and increase public awareness of its programs and initiatives. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a dual degree in Journalism and International Relations. She worked at The Lantern as a student reporter, focusing on diversity and inclusion in Columbus, then became one of the Special Projects Editors her senior year. Her most notable work is “Excluded”, a project about Islamophobia in sports settings. 

She is passionate about pushing for accurate representation of Muslims, especially in the media. She loves writing prose, reading novels, exploring filmmaking, and spending time with her family in her free time.
