As the newly appointed Legal Director for CAIR-Ohio, I look forward to the crucial work ahead in defending the civil rights of Ohio Muslims. Our attorneys are committed to the necessary work of empowering the community and combating anti-Muslim discrimination and Islamophobia.
Our work focuses on:
- Employment Discrimination: Every Muslim employee has a right to equal treatment and to practice their religion at work. We represent Muslims facing religious discrimination in the workplace, including lack of prayer accommodations and unfair employment practices.
- Equal Treatment Under the Law: Muslims often face discriminatory treatment when interacting with law enforcement, immigration, other government agencies, and in places of public accommodation. Our team is committed to defending the rights of Ohio Muslims against discriminatory government treatment and ensuring fair and just treatment for all.
- Advocacy & Empowerment: Empowerment through legal education and self-advocacy is crucial in uplifting the Muslim community. CAIR-Ohio attorneys provide Know Your Rights trainings, self-advocacy templates, and legal consultations to help community members navigate through a variety of legal issues. Our attorneys also serve as victim advocates for Muslims who have experienced hate crimes.
