(COLUMBUS, OHIO 10/9/2020) – On Friday, October 9, the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) held a “Know Your Rights” workshop at the Islamic Center of Mason in Mason, Ohio.

CAIR-Ohio Executive Director Romin Iqbal educated the audience about their rights at the airport and outlined the signs that would indicate someone is on a secret government watchlist. Iqbal also discussed the rights people have to practice their religion at work.

CAIR-Ohio has published “Know Your Rights” materials online in English, Arabic, Somali, Urdu, Farsi, Bengali, and Bosnian. The multi-language civil rights materials can be found here and may be printed out for personal use or for distribution at local events.

Muslims who feel that their rights have been violated are urged to contact CAIR-Ohio for assistance by filing an incident report here.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
