(COLUMBUS, OHIO 2/19/2020) On Friday, February 14, the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) held a learning session about the 2020 U.S. Census at Noor Islamic Cultural Center

.

CAIR-Ohio Outreach Director Amina Barhumi informed the attendees on what the census is and why it is so important for the American Muslim community in particular. Government Affairs Director Usjid Hameed then

went over how to complete the census form, taking care to explain how to answer each question based on ethnic identity.

Barhumi and Hameed also took the time to answer attendees’ questions and discuss how each attendee could help ensure that all Muslims are counted in the 2020 Census by sharing the information with their family, neighbors, and other local community members.

“It’s critical that all people be counted to ensure that our communities have the resources they need to thrive,” said Barhumi.
