(DAYTON, OHIO 10/9/2020) – On Friday, October 2nd, the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) held an in-person, non-partisan “Meet the Candidates” forum at the Islamic Center of Greater Dayton (ISGD), where Muslim constituents had the chance to hear from candidates running for local offices in Greene County.
Guests included county commissioners, probate judges, and Ohio Statehouse candidates. The forum was moderated by CAIR-Ohio’s Government Affairs and Development Director Usjid Hameed. Candidates were able to deliver their messages and policy positions on current issues impacting Dayton area constituents.
“There is value in hearing firsthand, the position of each of the candidates. The candidates elected will have an impact on the issues that affect us and our communities. It’s part of our responsibility to create spaces where Muslims voters are able to make an informed decision when they cast their ballot,” said Usjid.
If you missed this session, be sure to attend one of the other local “Meet the Candidate Events” hosted in your Ohio city. Follow our Facebook page to learn about our upcoming events.
