(COLUMBUS, OHIO, 11/02/22) – CAIR-Ohio Executive Director Amina Barhumi recently joined other coalition partners of Faith in Public Life to march to Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s office to pray for peace at the polls in this upcoming general election and for a multifaith, multiracial democracy that works for all Ohioans.
Faith in Public Life is a national network of almost 50,000 clergy and faith leaders united in the prophetic pursuit of justice and the common good. Faith leaders from Ohio shared prayers and spoke about the importance of voting ahead of National Vote Early Day, which was the following day.

“In Ohio, we face unconstitutional gerrymandered maps and barriers to the polls that take votes away from the voters. It’s the responsibility and part of the Secretary of State to be able to ensure that votes are not suppressed,” said Barhumi.
“In the Quran, Allah tells us to believe and to pray and so we [are] here to say we will continue the work to ensure that folks show up to the polls and are protected.”
