(COLUMBUS, OHIO 06/25/2021) – On Tuesday and Wednesday, June 22 and 23, 2021 the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) joined the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations in hosting the sixth Annual National Muslim Hill Day Event. The event was held virtually for the first time.

CAIR-Ohio hosted twelve virtual congressional meetings with elected officials from across Ohio to allow Ohio Muslims an opportunity to communicate their policy concerns with their representatives in U.S. Congress. The legislative agenda included issues such as Palestinian human rights, the persecution of Uyghur Muslims in China, the aftereffects of the Muslim Ban on our immigration system, and the creation of a special envoy to record and report on Islamophobia happening on a global scale.
Members of the Muslim Healthcare Professionals Advocacy Network (MPAN) were also in attendance and voiced their concerns for the growing cost of prescription drugs, and the barriers of healthcare access for many Americans.

CAIR-Ohio hosts advocacy events annually in both the U.S. Capitol as well as the Ohio State Capitol to amplify the voices of Muslim constituents among legislators. CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

For anyone interested in participating in future advocacy events, please do not hesitate to reach out to CAIR-Ohio Policy Director, Tala Dahbour at tdahbour@cair.com.
