(COLUMBUS, OH – 6/2/23) – This week, CAIR-Ohio welcomed the third cohort of its annual Summer Internship Development Program. CAIR-Ohio is hosting the program at the Cincinnati office and Columbus office, with a total of 13 interns. The internship is aimed toward college and graduate students exploring careers in law, nonprofits, politics, public service, international relations, and more.
During the program, students will learn more about civic engagement, civil rights, public affairs, develop skills in grassroots activism, and gain hands-on experience in advocacy. They will have the opportunity to meet with elected officials, network with professionals in various fields, work collaboratively with others, and explore different career paths.
Interns will also be trained on legislative advocacy in advance of participation in USCMO’s National Muslim Advocacy Day taking place June 12-13 in Washington, D.C.
During their first week, students focused on the theme of building community, which included a workshop on “Building Inclusive Spaces: A DEI Training for Muslim Youth Leaders” by Dr. Dorothy Hassan, CEO of Our Helpers and Adjunct Professor at eCornell.
