CAIR-Ohio Holds “Know Your Rights” Workshop in Perrysburg

(COLUMBUS, OHIO 06/13/2021) – On Sunday, June 13, the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) held a “Know Your Rights” workshop at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo in Perrysburg, Ohio. 

CAIR-Ohio Executive Director Romin Iqbal informed the audience about their rights at the airport, signs that would indicate someone is on a secret government watchlist, and how to proceed if one is put in such a position. Iqbal also discussed rights with respect to religious accommodation in schools and in the workplace.

CAIR-Ohio Hosts Community Cookout with Islamic Society of Greater Dayton

(COLUMBUS, OHIO 6/18/2021) – On Saturday, June 12, the Ohio Chapter of the Council onAmerican-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) hosted a community cookout at the Islamic Society of Greater Dayton. Community members gathered for good food and conversation and learned about CAIR-Ohio’s work.

Approximately 100 people attended the event and met CAIR-Ohio Executive Director Romin Iqbal, as well as members of CAIR-Ohio’s outreach and operations teams. CAIR-Ohio publications such as An Employer’s Guide to Islamic Religious Practices, Educator’s Guide, Healthcare Provider’s Guide, Know Your Rights guides and more were available for community members to take home.

CAIR-Ohio Seeks Justice for Uber Driver Who Was a Victim of a Hate Crime

(CINCINNATI, OH – 6/8/2021) – On Tuesday, June 8, the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) held a press conference in Cincinnati to seek a full and fair prosecution of an ethnic intimidation charge brought on behalf of the City Prosecutor’s Office following an incident in which a Mason Uber driver was allegedly physically attacked, racially abused, and had his car vandalized by a belligerent passenger.
