(HILLIARD, OHIO 5/11/2022) – Last week, the Ohio Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio) co-hosted a Community Center Public Feedback Meeting with the City of Hilliard. This was one of several meetings where the architectural team presented potential amenities of the future Hilliard Community Center to the public.
The meeting was attended by dozens of local Muslim community members who were able to provide feedback on what amenities should be included in the future community center through a question-and-answer session and an interactive exercise. The need for a prayer/meditation space, privacy accommodations for women using the aquatic center, as well as private locker room areas were among the most requested amenities from community members.
The City of Hilliard hosted previous public meetings during the month of Ramadan, which made it difficult for Muslims to attend. The city kindly worked with CAIR-Ohio to develop an opportunity for Muslim residents to participate in an input session while not interfering with their religious observance.
