Serving as Executive Director of Muslim Family Services – Ohio (MFS-Ohio), Nicol Ghazi leads an organization that is committed to empowering families to lead self-sufficient lives. The comprehensive services include providing resettlement support, jobs and skills training, advocacy, access to a food pantry, and government assistance. Nicol is charged with overseeing the organization’s educational services, coordinating the food pantry, managing client support with caseworkers, and more.
The COVID-19 crisis has increased MFS-Ohio’s clientele by 60%. More families are seeking guidance applying for government benefits and accessing hygiene products, face masks, and food. Ordinarily, MFS-Ohio organized its educational services in-person, however, the pandemic forced MFS-Ohio to resort to online programming. Although this transition came with challenges, MFS-Ohio is dedicated to family empowerment through education and continuous support.
The CAIR-Ohio team appreciates and commends Nicol Ghazi and the MFS-Ohio team for their heroic efforts during these difficult times. Many thanks to this #OhioMuslimHero!
