The Ohio Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Ohio), Ohio’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, is urging all Americans to support Palestinians under attack and call on President Joe Biden to broker an immediate ceasefire.
The death toll continues to rise in Gaza as Israel intensifies its airstrikes designed to inflict maximum harm and collective punishment on civilians.
Nearly 200 Palestinians, including many children, have been killed by Israeli airstrikes as of Monday afternoon. Eight Israeli deaths, including one child, have been reported. This past weekend, Israel’s attack on a refugee camp in Gaza City killed at least 10 Palestinians from an extended family, mostly children. Two senior doctors were also killed in bombings, exacerbating a staffing shortage and straining a medical system already reeling from the pandemic.
Thousands more are homeless, trapped, and surrounded with nowhere to seek shelter. Bombs have decimated homes and buildings – including an office tower housing the Associated Press, Al Jazeera, BBC, and other media outlets – and damaged hospitals and schools. UN officials are also warning that Gaza is running out of electricity and clean water as Israel bars aid workers and fuel from entering Gaza.
The Biden administration has both the political power and moral authority to stop this bloodshed. Your voice is critical. Tell President Biden to demand an immediate ceasefire and end to Israel’s unjust and unrestrained use of force on Palestinians.
